I’m Shawn Farnum, a Graphic Designer whose passion for design took root in the late 1990s during my studies at The Art Institute in Seattle. Although my journey there didn’t culminate in a degree, it laid the groundwork for a lifelong love of design. My educational path led me through Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell, MT, where I studied Web Design in 2009/2010. This experience was pivotal, setting the stage for my eventual entry into the Graphic Design School at Montana State University and earning me a Bachelor of Fine Arts in December of 2021.
Over the years, I’ve honed my skills across various industries, including fintech, healthcare, and augmented reality, cultivating a versatile portfolio that speaks to my broad expertise. My approach to graphic design is deeply rooted in understanding the user’s needs and business objectives, allowing me to create visually compelling and strategically aligned solutions.
I excel in conceptualizing and executing design projects from start to finish. My process involves thorough market research, the development of targeted personas, and the creation of engaging visuals that communicate effectively with audiences. My strong communication skills foster effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, ensuring that every project aligns with the overarching vision and goals.
My design philosophy is anchored in a data-driven, user-centric approach, emphasizing the importance of aesthetically pleasing, intuitive designs. Proficient in leading design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and Sketch, I also bring valuable web development skills, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, to facilitate efficient handoffs to development teams.
I am well-versed in agile methodologies, reflecting a commitment to agility and iterative development in my work. Beyond graphic design, I possess extensive skills in UI/UX, Web Design, and WordPress. underscoring my holistic approach to design and development solutions. With a proactive, organized mindset and a dedication to excellence, I am ready to contribute my talents to any team, continuing to explore the intersection of design innovation and user engagement.
Shawn was a pleasure to have on our team during his internship. Within a limited timeframe, he quickly dove into design tasks and saw larger projects to completion during the engagement. Shawn knows his toolset, what software to reach for, and the processes to employ when it comes to creative problem-solving.
