William Faulkner’s The Reivers wasn’t a book that I would have ever read had it not been for this class. It centers around an epic coming of age road trip. With this poster, I wanted to evoke the feeling of the road trip instead of illustrating something straight out of the book. I wanted to keep it as minimalistic as possible.
I chose to use the pink and blue color scheme of something called alpine glow which is one of my favorite times to drive. At this time of day it’s early (or late in the day) and the roads are typically wide open and the scenery is straight out of a painting.
I made the title of the book serve as the road and the authors name as an overpowering mountain in the background. The back cover follows suit, but this time I was going for the look of a car with the title at the top of the page. The book description acts as a vanishing point on a road with the character names on the side of the road.
